Getting to Magaluf – Taxi transfers, Car hire & Bus

Getting to Magaluf from Palma airport is straight forward and can be made in a few ways.  The main ways are either hiring a car, catching a bus, taking a pre-booked private transfer or getting a taxi.

The town of Magaluf located on the east side of the island is 29km/18miles from Palma airport. It isn’t too far from the airport but the roads can become busy around Palma city.  It will take approximately 25 minutes in a car journey from the airport.

When deciding to take the bus, passengers will need to take the airport bus to the main bus station in Palma city.  Once there they can take the bus to Magaluf.  Palma bus station is 8km/5miles east of Palma Airport in the same direction as Magaluf.

Trying to Park in Magaluf during the the peak holiday season can be tricky.  A taxi transfer to the resort is a very good option as it is quick and helps you avoid all the hassle of driving and parking.

There are typically plenty of taxis waiting at Palma airport so this makes a taxi an easy option.   Also the Palma airport taxi area is just in front of the arrivals building and you can’t miss it.  However in the busy peak times passengers may have to wait in a taxi queue.

Palma airport taxis do have fixed prices but it is always best to get a quote before you start your journey. This is because there are variables which can increase the fare.

A Taxi for 1-4 persons to Magaluf is around €39, which is less than €10 each if shared with four persons.  The prices for a taxi range depending on; the company and the time of day, the season/holidays and the amount of baggage.

It’s good to bear in mind that most Palma airport taxis will only take 4 passengers per taxi.  Therefore if you are a group of five and no larger taxis are available you will need to take two taxis.  This applies even if one in the group is a baby.  Hence it will cost more than you may have budgeted for.

A final point worth noting is that waiting taxis at Palma airport don’t always have child safety seats available.  Sometimes they are able to borrow these from colleagues but this is not a guarantee.

Pre-Booked Private Transfer

If you opt to book a taxi service from Palma airport this will invariably be a private transfer service.  Pre-booked private transfers can often work out to be more economic especially if you are a larger party.  As a bonus the vehicles are often luxury vehicles.

This means pre-booking a private taxi transfer is probably the most comfortable way to get to Magaluf from Palma airport.  This includes any time of the day or all through the night as they work 24 hours, but they just need to be booked in advance.

Drivers often help with luggage and will meet passengers with a name placard in the airport’s public arrivals hall.

When pre-booking a private transfer it’s possible to book child safety seats in advance so they will be prepared and waiting for you.  This will give anxious parents peace of mind.

Transfers can be pre-booked for vehicles of various sizes.  Vehicles typically come in sizes of 1-4 cars, 1-7 minivans or 8-20 minibuses. In most cases it’s possible to book a vehicle large enough for your party.  There are some websites that even hire private coaches for very large groups.
