Depending on your destination, you may still require proof of a negative Covid-test for air travel. What are the options for Covid-testing when you fly from Palma Airport?
The Coronavirus testing facility at Palma Airport is no longer in operation. Therefore, if you need a Covid test for travel, you will need to arrange this elsewhere on the island before coming to the airport.
That depends on your destination and / or your tour operator. It is important that you familiarise yourself with the current entry regulations for your travel destination several days prior to departure. Whether you are getting a PCR test or an antigen test, it is important to ensure that you receive your test result in a format that is certified for travel.
A PCR test should be accepted wherever you go, as it it highly sensitive and generally delivers acccurate results. Depending on your destination, you may not need a PCR. This type of test can be expensive and you may have to wait around 24 hours to obtain the results and your certificate.
Many countries will also accept an antigen (lateral flow) test. This is not only cheaper than a PCR test but you will also get your results sooner (usually in less than one hour).
Any Covid test that is required for travel will need to be carried out at a private clinic or laboratory, where you will have to pay for your test.
A free Covid-test at one of the public health centres can only be carried out if you are experiencing symptoms and have been referred by a doctor.
All of the main tourist resorts in Mallorca have Covid testing facilities in private clinics, health centres, and a range of medical and dental surgeries.
Covid-testing can also be arranged in a range of different hotels across the island.
As you can imagine, the city of Palma de Mallorca has a lot of private clinics and laboratories where Covid testing can be carried out. We have listed a few of them below. Although it might be possible to get tested without a prior appointment, it is advisable to check in advance and to arrange an appointment, if necessary.
