Looking for a place to park in the old town of Valldemossa during the high season can be a little difficult. Consequently, taking a taxi transfer will help avoid problems of this nature and the stress of driving.
Palma airport taxis wait directly in front of the arrivals area. Taking a taxi is a simple option, but in busy periods passengers will possibly have to wait in the taxi queue.
Groups of five or more will need a second taxi as most airport taxis at Palma are only licensed to take 4 passengers per taxi. This applies even if one of the passengers is a small child or a baby. Therefore you might end up paying more than you had expected for your journey from the airport to Valldemossa.
💡 How to get around this: Pre-book a private transfer and select a vehicle large enough to accommodate your party. This will be cheaper than paying twice the taxi fare!
Palma airport taxis have a fixed fare system but it is always good to get a price from the driver before setting of as there are variables. Taxi fares range depending on the time of day, weekends and holidays.
Also, Palma airport taxis don’t usually have child safety seats available.
A pre-booked private taxi transfer is one of the most comfortable way to get from Palma airport to Valldemossa. This is because private transfer vehicles are often high end models. However, they are often the same price or even cheaper than taxis, especially for larger groups. They can also be booked any time of the day or night for the same price.
The vehicle sizes for private transfers are 1-4 passenger cars, 1-7 minivans or 8-13 minibuses. In most cases it’s possible to book a vehicle for your travel group, even coaches.
If you want peace of mind and the guarantee that your transfer is possible you will need to book 24hours in advance. Pre-booked taxi licences are different from regular taxis and do need to be booked as they can’t be hailed.
Some additional advantages over regular taxis are that drivers will meet passengers with a name placard in the airport’s public arrivals hall and will usually help with luggage. It is also possible to book child safety seats.
If you have decided to opt for a private transfer, you are most likely looking for a company with a proven track-record for reliability and punctuality. It is also a good idea to choose a local company, as there are many international agencies that can tend to be more expensive and less communicative when it comes to dealing directly with drivers. We recommend Spain based Solhop.com – tel +34 693 900 900. With Solhop you don’t need a credit card to book online and you can pay your driver in cash. You can also amend and cancel your booking at any time. Check them out on TripAdvisor.
