However, air traffic manager ENAIRE and Spain’s air traffic controllers (Controladores Aéreos) have confirmed that adverse weather, specifically severe thunderstorms and tall cumulonimbus clouds, is sweeping across the Eastern peninsular region and approaching Mallorca.
Why Bad Weather Causes Spacing Delays
When dynamic, volatile weather hits, safety becomes the single driving priority. You might wonder why bad weather leads to heavy flight delays rather than straightforward route changes. It comes down to two main factors:

When reduced arrival rates are applied to an airport already operating at peak capacity, delays accumulate rapidly.
