Mallorca has a well-established public transport system and an extensive bus service, with bus routes stretching all across the island. It is possible to reach most places by bus, although, depending on the destination, there may not always be a direct bus connection.
There are two different bus companies that provide an airport bus service in Mallorca.
| EMT | TIB |
| Where do they go? These buses go to destinations in and around Palma City and to S’Arenal. Please see below. | Where do they go? The TIB airport buses (AEROTIB) connect the airport with a large number of locations across the island. Please see below. |
| When do they run? All year round. | When do they operate? These buses used to run only in the summer season. They now operate all year round, with slightly reduced routes and schedules during winter (see below). |
| What do they look like? They are held in the colours blue, white and green. ![]() | What do they look like? They are held in red and yellow colours. ![]() |
Route A1 Airport – Palma City
Route A2 Airport – S‘Arenal
Route 34: Airport – Hospital Son Espases
Summer routes and timetables are in effect from 27/3/2026:
A11 Airport bus Palma – Camp de Mar (via Palmanova, Magaluf, Santa Ponca, Peguera) – please see below.
A32 Airport bus Palma – Can Picafort (via Inca, Alcudia, Playa de Muro) – please see below.
A42 Airport bus Palma – Cala Bona (via Manacor, Cala Millor) – please see below.
A51 Airport bus Palma – Campos (via S’Arenal and Llucmajor) – please see below.
To reach other destinations by bus, take the EMT airport bus route A1 towards Palma City to Palma Estació Intermodal, Palma’s main bus and train station, at Plaça d’Espanya. The bus station, from where all TIB buses depart, is located underground, right next to the metro station. More information is available at the bottom of this page.
The bus stops are directly opposite the public arrivals hall and are easy to find. Exit the arrivals hall through one of the doors numbered from 1 to 7. Door number 4 is in the central position for the bus stops, but it doesn’t matter which exit you choose, as the bus stops are clearly signposted.
Once outside, aim for the covered walkway, which is clearly visible from all vantage points. This will take you to a set of pedestrian traffic lights where you can cross the slip road. The bus stops are right across the road on the right-hand side.

As part of a larger refurbishment project at Palma Airport, a new central bus station was created, which was opened to the public on Friday, the 8th of August 2025. This means that all of the airport bus stops can now be found in one place.
All buses returning to the airport will drop passengers off right outside the departures hall on the upper level.
Tickets for the EMT-, as well as the TIB-buses, can be purchased from the driver.
You can pay in cash or by card.
If you prefer to pay in cash, please ensure you have small denominations or coins ready. Drivers often carry limited change and may be unable to break larger notes.
Acceptance varies slightly depending on the service provider:
Please be aware that paying in cash is the most expensive way to travel. For the best value, we recommend using a contactless bank card to benefit from significant fare reductions (see below).
Contactless card payments have been available on TIB buses for some time, and as of 13 March 2026, this facility has been extended to EMT services.
If you choose to pay by card, simply tap your bank card on the reader when boarding.
Fares on both the TIB and EMT networks are significantly cheaper when paying by card, offering a 40% discount compared to cash single tickets. See the examples in the table below:
| Route | Cash Fare | Card Fare |
| A11 Aerotib Airport to Palmanova | €6.75 | €4.05 |
| EMT A1 Airport to Palma City | €5.00 | €3.00 |
Note: Paying by card is not only more economical but also helps speed up boarding times for all passengers.
The A1 bus route goes from Palma Airport to Palma City and around the old town. The last stop is at the Es Baluard art museum, from where the bus will return via the same route to the airport. While previously the route carried on all the way to the port, there is no longer a direct connection between the airport and Palma port.
The city stops provide excellent places to stop off for shopping or visiting the old town. All buses have the next stop on their electronic display system inside the bus. Buses go very regularly – please see below for more information.
A single journey from Palma Airport to Palma city costs €5 when paid in cash and €3 when paid by card.
Children under 5 are free.
There are discounts for Palma residents, students and pensioners, but you have to show ID and relevant documents.
The journey from Palma Airport to Plaça d’Espanya on the A1 bus takes around 20 minutes.
The A1 bus goes to and from the airport at very regular intervals throughout the day (on average every 15 minutes).
Palma Airport to city centre: The first bus leaves at 5.30am and the last bus at 3.10am.
City Centre (Passeig Mallorca – Jaume III) to Palma Airport: The first bus leaves at 4.15am, the last bus at 3.30am.
Plaça d’Espanya: This is where the main bus and train terminals are based in Palma city, and the tourist train to Soller is next to this stop. From here, travellers can take a bus or train to virtually any resort and town in Mallorca.
Es Baluard: Contemporary art museum with more than 700 works of art from international and local artists, as well as temporary exhibitions, cultural and educational activities. Additionally, this stop is only a few minutes’ walk away from the trendy district of Santa Catalina.

There are two options for your journey to Arenal: the EMT bus line A2 or the AEROTIB bus line A51 (in the direction of Campos). If you are heading directly to Arenal, you are better off with the A51, which is faster and cheaper than the A2. However, if you are going to Can Pastilla or Playa de Palma, you will need to take the A2.
The A2 bus runs very regularly, and the travel time is around 32 minutes.
The A51 runs every hour. The journey time is around 6 minutes.

From S’Arenal, the bus will return on the same route to the airport, except it will not return through the centre of Can Pastilla. Passengers who were dropped off in the centre of Can Pastilla, Hotel Linda, Bartomeu Riutort and Hotel Miraflores on their arrival will have to go to the main road bus stops to return to Palma Airport. These are close by and are stops numbered 434, 1193 or 437; this is only to return to Palma Airport.
The bus costs €5 when paid in cash or €3 when paid by card; under 5s are free. There are discounts for Palma residents, students and pensioners, but you have to show ID and relevant documents.
A2 buses from Palma Airport to S’Arenal run from 6:15 am to 10:15 am
