Palma de Mallorca Airport closed 2025 with a total of 33,806,427 passengers, confirming another year of growth for the Balearic Islands’ main aviation hub. According to figures released by airport operator Aena, this represents a 1.5% increase compared with 2024.
While passenger numbers continued to rise, the pace of growth was more moderate than in the previous year. In 2024, total passenger traffic had increased by 7% compared with 2023, highlighting a clear slowdown in 2025.
International routes continued to dominate passenger traffic. Of all commercial travellers using Palma Airport in 2025:
Germany remained the airport’s largest international market, followed by the United Kingdom and Switzerland.
According to Aena, the countries generating the highest passenger volumes in 2025 were:
Palma de Mallorca Airport handled 246,486 flight movements in 2025, including take-offs and landings. This figure represents a 1.4% increase compared with 2024.
As with passenger traffic, growth in flight operations has slowed: In 2024, the number of flights rose by 6.2% year-on-year.
Looking at the long-term development, Palma de Mallorca Airport has experienced substantial growth over the past two decades. According to data published by Aena, passenger numbers increased from 21,240,736 in 2005 to 23,745,023 in 2015, representing a rise of around 11.8% over that ten-year period.
Growth accelerated significantly in the following decade. Between 2015 and 2025, total passenger traffic climbed from 23.7 million to 33.8 million, an increase of approximately 42.4%. This comparison clearly shows that passenger growth during the last decade has been more than three times stronger than in the previous ten-year period.
Overall, passenger numbers at Palma de Mallorca Airport grew by about 59% between 2005 and 2025, underlining the airport’s expanding role as one of Southern Europe’s key tourist gateways.
Despite a noticeable slowdown in year-on-year growth compared with 2024, the figures released by Aena confirm that Palma de Mallorca Airport continues to develop on a solid long-term trajectory. Rising international demand, particularly from key European markets, and sustained passenger volumes highlight the airport’s strategic importance for both tourism and connectivity in the Balearic Islands.
