Usually, as autumn draws to a close, Mallorca’s TIB airport bus services (Aerotib) stop running until spring. Travellers arriving at Palma de Mallorca Airport who wished to continue their journey to other parts of the island by public transport had no direct options. The only choice was to take a bus to Palma’s main bus station at Plaça d’Espanya, and from there, connect to other destinations.
This year, things are changing. For the winter season 2025/26, all four Aerotib routes will remain in operation throughout the winter. The decision marks a major shift for residents, airport workers, and off-season visitors who rely on public transport for their journeys.
The Aerotib network was first launched in 2017, filling a long-standing gap in Mallorca’s transport system by providing direct bus routes between Palma Airport and popular destinations around the island. Before that, buses from the airport only went as far as Palma city and El Arenal.
After 2019, the service became seasonal, typically running from spring until the end of October. During the colder months, the routes went on a “winter break,” forcing many travellers to rely on car hire, taxis, or time-consuming transfers in Palma.
That pattern began to change last year, when the A11 route to Calvià continued through the winter for the first time, starting in late December. Following the success of that trial, the Balearic Government has now extended the year-round service to all four Aerotib lines.
This winter (as of 1st of November 2025), four routes are keeping Palma Airport connected with key towns and residential areas across the island. While the winter timetables are slightly reduced compared to the summer season, the lines will operate daily, from early morning until late at night, with frequencies of roughly every hour.

According to the Balearic Government and the Consorci de Transports de Mallorca (CTM), the move is designed to make public transport a practical, year-round option. The goal is to ensure that airport staff can commute throughout the day and that residents across the island have a viable alternative to using private cars.
Until now, the Aerotib had only run seasonally, with a handful of low-season journeys trialled before 2020. The new year-round service, with up to 38 departures per line each day, represents a significant step towards improving sustainable mobility on the island.
The new winter timetables came into effect on Saturday, the 1st of November 2025, and can be viewed on the TIB website. Travellers can also register for updates through the ‘TIB i tu’ user area, select their preferred routes, and receive notifications about any service changes.
The decision to keep Aerotib buses running throughout the winter marks an important milestone for Mallorca’s public transport network. It makes Palma Airport more accessible year-round, improves connectivity between towns, and offers both visitors and residents a reliable, affordable, and environmentally friendly way to travel across the island, whatever the season.
