Good news for residents and holidaymakers in Mallorca this summer: the strike affecting interurban TIB bus services has officially been suspended. Following a tense ten-day standoff between the SATI union and the concessionary transport companies, a preliminary agreement has been reached that will restore normal service across the island’s public transport network.
The strike, which began on the 18th of July 2025, had caused disruption across Mallorca, as well as in Menorca and Ibiza. However, after successful mediation involving the regional government, both sides reached an understanding that includes improvements in salaries, holiday entitlements, and working conditions for bus drivers and staff. The agreement still needs to be ratified by workers, but services have already returned to full operation.
The official X (formerly Twitter) account of the Ministry of Housing, Territory and Mobility of the Government of the Balearic Islands (@goib) confirmed the update, stating:
“Full service has resumed as of today.
We welcome the agreement reached between the organising union, the regular transport employers, and the concessionary companies.”
The interurban TIB buses are a vital part of the transport network in Mallorca, serving both local residents and the many tourists who visit the island each year. From airport transfers to day trips to the island’s beaches, charming villages, and scenic inland towns, these buses offer a convenient and affordable way to explore. Whether you’re planning a visit to Sóller, Alcúdia, or Cala d’Or, you can now travel with peace of mind, as services have returned to normal following the suspension of strike action. You can check the TIB website to find out about bus routes and the latest timetables.
