Weather Disrupts Flights at Palma Airport

A short summary

Severe weather is affecting air traffic at Palma de Mallorca Airport on Friday, the 9th of May 2025.

Spain’s national weather agency, Aemet, issued a yellow warning from midday for heavy rain and thunderstorms, with rainfall of up to 30 mm within an hour possible.

Due to the unstable weather conditions, numerous arriving as well as departing flights are experiencing delays. Several flights had to be diverted to other airports.

Overnight and in the early morning hours, torrential rain led to flooding in parts of the south and east of the island.

Cumulus clouds over the north and inland areas of #Mallorca and the east of #Ibiza, with storms and heavy showers, caused by wind convergence and atmospheric instability.
