Metro de Palma

Palma’s Metro network is the smallest in Spain. Although it offers limited opportunities for getting around Palma city, it is a good option for reaching Palma’s northern districts. The Metro is operated by Serveis Ferroviaris de Mallorca (SFM) and first opened on 25th April 2007.

Metro link to Palma Airport

The Metro line does not currently go to the airport and there is no Metro connection from Palma Airport to Palma city. To get to the Metro station from the airport, you will need to take a bus or a taxi.

Palma Metro station

The closest metro station to Palma Airport is the Intermodal Station at Placa d’Espanya in Palma city. This is Palma’s main station – trains, buses and coaches also depart from here.

When at Placa d’Espanya, you will need to go down the set of stairs at Palma Intermodal Station. This is an underground station and the start of the Metro.

Getting from Palma Airport to Palma Metro station

The EMT airport bus A1 goes directly from Palma Airport to the train station at Plaça d’Espanya. The bus journey will take around half an hour and costs € 5 for a single ticket. A taxi journey from Palma Airport to the train station will take around 15 minutes.

Where does the Metro go in Palma de Mallorca?

The Palma Metro currently has just one line, known as the M1. It starts from the Intermodal Station near the city centre and goes to the University (Universidad de las Islas Baleares – UIB). There are plans to extend the M1 line by 1.5 km to reach Parc Bit, a science and technology park on the outskirts of Palma.
