The quickest way to get from Palma airport to Son Serra de Marina is by taking an airport taxi or pre-booking a private transfer. We have gathered some information on both options for you.
Arguably the easiest way to get from Palma airport to Son Serra de Marina has to be by taxi! You just pick up your luggage, walk outside the terminal, get in a cab and tell the driver your destination. While this all sounds so simple there are a few facts you should know first before opting to take a taxi to Son Serra de Marina.
All taxis in Mallorca operate using a taximeter and have higher rates for evenings, night-time, weekends and holidays. They also have a supplement for being picked up or dropped off at the airport.
⚠️ Ignore anyone who approaches you in the airport offering you a ride. These are pirate taxi drivers that are not licensed and insured to carry passengers.
😊 The taxi rank is easy to find as it is directly outside the arrivals hall from Exit C.
😊 Taxis are easy to recognise as they are all painted white with a red and yellow stripe emblazoned on the front doors and bonnet. They also have the standard light on the roof to let you know if they are available for hire or occupied.
😊 You do not have to pre-book your ride.
☹️ You may have to wait in a queue. Palma airport is the 3rd busiest in Spain after Barcelona and Madrid and is particularly busy during the peak summer months. In the winter you might not have a problem as there are fewer people travelling through the airport, but during the summer you may find yourself waiting for a taxi to become available.
☹️ Taxis in Mallorca are only permitted to carry 4 passengers and that includes children no matter how small they may be.
☹️ You are limited with luggage. A standard airport taxi can carry around 3 medium-sized suitcases.
☹️ They are also not required to have child safety seats and usually don’t carry one.
☹️ You don’t know what the final cost will be until you arrive at your destination.
Several companies operate private airport transfers to and from Palma airport and while all basically offer a similar service, some are better than others. The way it works is you call or book online to reserve a car or minivan that best suits your situation.
😊 Your driver is waiting for you in the arrivals hall, which means there will be no waiting around for a taxi.
😊 You can select the vehicle that best suits your needs. If you are travelling alone a simple saloon car will do but if you are travelling as a family or in a group you can book a minivan large enough to accommodate all your passengers and their luggage. If you have special needs
😊 Any special requirements can be ordered in advance, such as a child seat or wheelchair ramp.
😊 You know exactly how much it is going to cost, as you will be informed of the exact price of the transfer when booking.
☹️ Having to pre-book your vehicle in advance.
☹️ Having to decide which company to use.
When choosing which private airport transfer to use we recommend researching Mallorca travel forums and reading reviews on TripAdvisor. Our preferred choice when it comes to private airport transfers is a company called Solhop. Not only are they the #1 rated company of their kind in Mallorca, they also use newer and more luxurious vehicles. What sets them apart, however, is that you can book a car without a credit or debit card and just pay the agreed fare to the driver. Also with Solhop, they allow you to change your reservation or cancel free of charge.
