If you are not too keen on public transport and you are not planning to hire a car, a taxi journey or a private transfer are your best options. Private transfers are increasingly gaining in popularity – we have looked at the reasons why.

Taxi Transfer from Palma de Mallorca Airport to Capdepera

If it’s a spur of the moment trip or you are travelling alone and don’t have much luggage, taking a taxi from Palma airport to your hotel or holiday accommodation might be your best option.

The taxi rank at Palma airport is located directly outside Exit C in the arrivals hall. As you exit the baggage claim areas, just follow the taxi signs and you won’t get lost. All taxis in Mallorca are painted white and have the colours of the Mallorcan flag on the bonnet and both front doors. They also have the usual illuminated sign on the roof to let you know if they are available for hire or not.

If however, you are travelling as a family or in a group, a private airport transfer is the way to go. The only downside to a private airport transfer is that you have to pre-book a car and driver in advance.

Below we have looked at some of the different aspects in more detail.

Getting to Capdepera

In comparison to public transport or even car hire, a taxi transfer is one of the quickest ways of getting to your destination, although during busy periods you may have to wait for a little while at the taxi rank. Palma airport handles millions of passengers a year and is the third busiest airport in Spain after Madrid and Barcelona. During the peak summer months, the airport is running at full capacity and with taxis taking holidaymakers to all parts of the island, you could find yourself waiting in a queue for some time.

Watch out: Due to the often long waits, pirate taxis have started operating at the airport. The way it works is that someone will approach you in the arrivals hall and say that they have just dropped off a fare and can take you to your destination without you having to wait in line. Do not go with one of these people as they are not licensed and insured to take passengers and can charge you way over what the official fare should be.

Bonus with a private transfer:
Your driver will be waiting for you on your arrival and take you straight to your destination.

Standard airport taxis do not tend to carry a child seat and are not set up for people with mobility needs.

Bonus with a private transfer:
You are able to book a child seat or other extras, e.g. a vehicle fitted out for people with reduced mobility.

These days, all licensed taxis in Mallorca are fitted with metres, so you don’t need to worry about having to bargain with the driver about the cost of the fare. Rates vary depending on the time of day and increase during the night on weekends and public holidays. All taxis picking up or dropping off at Palma airport add an airport supplement tax onto the normal metered fare.

Taxis in Mallorca are only permitted to carry four passengers and that includes babies. They are also only large enough to fit three medium sized suitcases in the trunk. If you are travelling in a larger group or have a lot of luggage, you may require two taxis, which is an expensive option.

Bonus with a private transfer:
Here you don’t need to worry about the fare as you are charged the price you agreed to when making the booking – this remains the same no matter what time of day or night you are travelling. Additionally, you are able to select a vehicle that can accommodate a larger group and all their luggage, thus eliminating the need to take two taxis.

Selecting the Right Private Transfer Company to take you to Capdepera

Due to Mallorca’s popularity as a holiday destination, several private airport transfer companies have sprung up looking to take advantage of the business available. Because of this, it’s hard to know which one to choose. Our advice is to visit travel websites such as TripAdvisor and read the reviews from fellow travellers.

Our favourite private airport transfer company is Solhop, which incidentally is the #1 rated company of its kind in Mallorca. Due to their popularity, Solhop is able to change their vehicles for newer models more frequently than some others and tend to select more upmarket cars and minibuses than their competitors. With Solhop, no deposit is required and you are able to pay the driver the agreed price when you reach your destination. The Solhop team understand that people’s plans can change at the last minute and therefore do not charge you, should you need to change or cancel your booking.
