The taxi rank at Palma Airport is located directly outside the arrivals area of the terminal. Once you pick up your luggage follow the overhead taxi signs to Exit C in the middle of the arrivals hall and the taxis will be lined up outside. All taxis in Mallorca are painted white and have a red and yellow stripe on the front doors and bonnet that depict the flag of Mallorca. Just like most other countries taxis in Mallorca also have the traditional illuminated sign on the roof to let you know if they are occupied or available.
All taxis in Mallorca use a taximeter to calculate the fare, but cost can vary depending on the time of day and whether or not you arrive on a weekend or public holiday.
Taxis in Mallorca are strictly licensed to carry only four people, including babies and young children, which means if you are travelling in a group and have luggage you will probably need to take two cabs.
👍TIP: Pre-booking a vehicle large enough for your party will save you money!
Palma Airport is extremely busy during the summer which often equates to long lines at the taxi rank. Because of this unlicensed pirate taxi drivers may approach you and offer you a ride. Ignore these drivers as they are not licensed and insured and will probably try to rip you off with the fare.
Flying these days is stressful enough without having to sort out transport from the airport to your holiday destination which is why we recommend using a private airport transfer. The advantages over an airport taxi include:
✔️Knowing exactly how much it is going to cost in advance.
✔️No waiting in a queue at the taxi rank.
✔️Selecting the type of vehicle that best suits your needs.
✔️Having your English-speaking driver waiting for you in the arrivals’ hall.
✔️Being able to reserve specific equipment such as child seats or ramps for passengers with reduced mobility.
There are plenty of options available when it comes to hiring a private airport transfer with several companies in Mallorca offering the service. Have a look at Mallorca travel forums or websites such as TripAdvisor and see what other holidaymakers say before making a decision. Our favourite company happens to be Solhop as they use newer, more luxurious vehicles and there is no need to pay in advance.
