For your journey from Palma airport to Estellencs, you have the choice of taking a taxi, booking a private transfer, hiring a car or taking public transport. You will find more information on each of these options below.
The taxi rank at Palma de Mallorca is located directly opposite the arrivals hall. Once you have picked up your luggage head for Exit C by following the overhead signs and the taxis will be right in front of you.
All taxis in Mallorca are a uniform white colour with the red and yellow stripes of the Mallorcan flag emblazoned on both front doors and the bonnet. They also have a traditional illuminated taxi sign on the roof to let you know if they are available or not. All fares come with minimum charge with the rest of the journey calculated by distance using a taximeter. Additional fees can be charged depending on the time of day – a higher rate is applicable in the evenings and at night-time. Also, expect to pay more on weekends and national holidays.
There is a strict rule in Mallorca that only allows taxis to carry four passengers and that includes babies and young children. 👉If you are travelling with children and require that the car has a child-seat, we would recommend that you use a private transfer service, as this way you can request your specific needs in advance.
Palma International airport is the 3rd busiest in Spain after Madrid and Barcelona, with 27 million passengers in 2017. The majority of these passengers arrive during the popular summer months putting pressure on airport services such as taxis. This means that you may have to wait in a queue for an available taxi, and while the wait should not be more than 15 minutes, it’s still not the start of your holiday that you would want.
⚠️ Due to the queues, beware of people coming up to you and offering you a ride to your hotel or rented accommodation as these are pirate taxi drivers who are not licensed and insured to carry passengers.
With all the added security measures and the need to arrive at the airport such a long time before your flight, the last thing you need is complications getting to your holiday accommodation once you arrive in Mallorca.
For this and a handful of other reasons, you may wish to consider using a private airport transfer company such as Solhop. Solhop has been in the airport transfer business for years and is the number one rated service of its kind on the island of Mallorca. Cars can be booked in advance without the need for a credit card and can be altered or cancelled at any time. Select the type of vehicle you require, be it a normal saloon, minibus or executive limousine. There are no extra charges for luggage or the number of passengers, plus you can ask for a child seat or a vehicle for passengers with reduced mobility. All Solhop’s drivers speak English and will be waiting for you in the arrivals hall to whisk you off on your holiday. Check them out on TripAdvisor!

All the major international car rental companies have desks in the arrivals hall with several lesser-known local companies having cars for hire off-site. The off-site companies tend to be a little cheaper than their big-name competition and provide a free shuttle service from the airport and their lots.
Alamo, Hertz, Sixt, Europcar, RecordGo, Enterprise, Thrifty, Avis, Budget, Goldcar, Rhodium, Interent, Keddy by Europcar all have desks at the airport with local companies Centauro, OK, Hiper, Wiber, Dollar and Drivalia all nearby with a free shuttle service to and from the airport.
Car hire in Mallorca is extremely popular during the summer so be sure to book well in advance to ensure the type of vehicle you want is available. Also due to the large demand, you may have to wait in a queue before seeing an agent. Read your rental agreement well and make sure you understand the fuel policy of the company you are renting from. Also, take out the maximum insurance cover so you don’t have to worry about being charged for any unexpected dings or scrapes.

Sitting deep in the Sierra de la Tramuntana Mountains with sweeping views of the Mediterranean Sea, Estellencs is the kind of place you fall in love with before ever setting foot in the village.
Located on the northwest coast just 40 kilometres from Palma de Mallorca International Airport, Estellencs is perfect for people looking to discover the real Mallorca in an ideal setting.
With a population of 389 people, the car-free village is perhaps one of the most picturesque places to stay in all of Mallorca and is the starting point for many of the Tramuntana Mountains most popular hikes.
To get to the beach you have to walk down a 1.5-kilometre road through olive orchards where you will be rewarded with a beautiful sandy cove of white sand and gin-clear turquoise coloured water.
During the summer there is a bamboo covered beach bar where you can grab a drink while watching the traditional Llaut fishing boats bobbing up and down in the bay.
While Estellencs does not have much in the way of nightlife it does have an award-winning restaurant where the chef grows his own food and a bar with a terrace where you can watch the most spectacular sunset on earth.
Legend has it that Estellencs got its name due to the number of stars you can see from the village at night, which just adds to its appeal as a holiday destination for people looking to unwind and relax in a picture-perfect location.
