Palma Nova

Palma Nova is situated in the southwest of Mallorca, only a short drive of 20 – 25 minutes (26km/16miles) from Palma Airport.

Overview

Palma Nova is right next to Magaluf and is often overshadowed by its more famous and noisy neighbour. However, Palma Nova has a much larger beach area than Magaluf and is slightly more family orientated.

Palma Nova has three main beaches of white sand and additionally little rocky beaches and coves beyond the small harbour.  There is a continuous promenade starting from the harbour in the north end and skirting around rocky outcrops all the way until its last beach. (Around one of the rocky sections there are steps but these can be bypassed with a short detour on the street.)

Also, there are ample places to stop along the sea front at cafes, bars and restaurants.  There are plenty of sunbeds to hire and many watersports activities offered including a SCUBA diving school.

Son Matias is the main beach at Palma Nova and the last one before Magaluf.  The promenade is divided from Magaluf by the headland, so if you want to walk to Magaluf it’s easy but you will just need to take a short detour through the town as the two resorts are connected.

Palma Nova is popular with families and younger tourists during the summer season but during winter it transforms and is popular with middle aged and senior visitors.
