Port de Pollenca

Located on the Bay of Pollenca, Port de Pollenca is one of the most northern towns on Mallorca.
However it’s not too far from the airport at 65km/40miles and takes approximately 47 minutes to drive.

The place was originally a fishing village but has developed over the years for tourism. The boats that fill the marina today are mostly private yachts and cruisers. It is very easy to stroll around the marina and see the boats and little fish that feed in the marina.

There is plenty of beach space in the resort and it has two main beaches areas, d’Albercuix and Pollenca. Both beach areas have shallow and relatively calm waters due to the resort being in the bay of Pollenca. Both also have great views of the mountain ranges which protrude out of the sea on either side of the bay.

D’Albercuix beach area runs from the Marina heading north for about 2km/1.25miles curving around the corner of the bay. Yet the beach area is quite narrow in places and even disappears at points. There are more beach facilities such as sunbeds nearer to the Marina.

In spite of the narrowness of this beach area, it is pretty and is backed by the famous pine walk way, a promenade with pine trees along it.

The Pine walk is around 2km/1.25miles long and is definitely worth wandering over. It offers great views of the bay and as the beach for the most part is narrow even disappearing in places the water laps against the side of the promenade which is a novelty.

This promenade has various cafes and restaurants scattered along its length offering great views of the bay and mountains. From this promenade at the marina end, tourists can connect to the main square in the town, Plaza Miguel Capllonch. This Square is where the market takes place on Wednesday mornings in front of the church and there are further cafes and restaurants here.

The other beach area running south from the Marina is generally known as Pollenca’s main beach. It is a lot deeper with plenty of sand and sunbeds including beach facilities and it was also awarded a blue flag in 2015.

The resort is well suited for tranquil families and those seeking a quiet relaxing break. For greater family entertainment there is Alcudia resort, less than 10 minutes away with its water park and many attractions.
